Green Lantern debuted in North America on Friday, June 17, 2011, and grossed $3.4 million in 1,180-midnight screenings. The picture made $21.4 million on its first day, but dropped 22% on Saturday for a weekend total of $53.2 million, giving it the top place. Green Lantern saw a 66.1 percent drop in its second weekend, the greatest second-weekend drop for a superhero film in 2011. Green Lantern earned $116.6 million in the United States and Canada, as well as $103.3 million abroad, for a total of $219.9 million globally.

According to PostTrak, the picture received a 97 percent positive rating, with 45 percent of moviegoers saying it exceeded their expectations.
